Can you help me with my transfer from Disability Living Allowance to Personal Independence Payment?
Yes we can. All you need to do is call us at our Support Centre and send us the letter that you have received from DWP telling you of the transfer assessment process. From our experience over the last 18 months we know that the transfer is far from straightforward and that lots of people are really worried about losing their entitlement as the rules change. I’m already receiving benefits so can you still help me?
Our experience tells that in most situations we probably can. Just because you are receiving benefits certainly doesn’t mean that you are receiving all the benefits to which you are entitled, or that you are receiving the correct premiums on the benefits you are already receiving.
I consider myself to be relatively wealthy and I’ve paid my taxes over the years. Can I be entitled to any benefits?
Yes you can. There are a number of care related non-means tested benefits which everybody is entitled to regardless of their income or asset ownership. We have acted for lots of clients whom at the start assumed that just because they had money it meant they couldn’t or they shouldn’t apply for benefits that they are actually rightfully entitled to.
A family member of mine has dementia so can you still help?
Yes we can. Dementia is an increasingly common occurrence and the care needs only ever increase over time. We are particularly sensitive to dementia cases and have acted on behalf of lots of families where their loved one has dementia.
Can somebody be with me when you visit me at home?
Definitely yes and this is something we would encourage. For some people it can be very helpful for them to have a friend, carer or family member with them when we visit. For others they may want the meeting to be private. It’s totally up to you and we will accommodate your wishes either way.
Is there a charge for your specialist service and how much is it?
Yes we do charge for our specialist service but there is nothing for you to pay unless and until you actually receive a benefit which you have applied for. Our fees inclusive of VAT are 10x the weekly benefit and premiums award that you actually receive.
How do I pay you?
When you receive the benefits which you applied for you pay us by standing order from your bank account and you can pay over 6 months. A lot of the time the payment of a benefit is backdated to the date you signed the form and some our clients choose to pay our fee in one go out of the back pay.
Can you help my carers?
If we can we certainly will. In lots of situations through lack of appreciation of what they are entitled to people don’t apply for benefits such as Attendance Allowance or Carer’s Allowance. We will look at your circumstances and advise you of everything that you and your carer are entitled to.
Could I go to a charity for help?
Yes you can. Charities do an immense amount of good work. However, we know that with the system being so complicated and the high level of expert knowledge needed to understand the forms and understand how all the benefits are linked together, we believe we are better placed to make sure that you receive everything you are entitled to. We provide a one on one personalised service and your Consultant will visit you at home and manage your case from start to finish.
What happens if my application is unsuccessful?
We always aim for applications that we help you with to be successful but we can’t promise that will be the case all of the time. If we disagree with a decision by DWP, we will write a reconsideration letter for you to send to DWP at no cost.
